South Korean automaker Hyundai has said it wants to reach an average fuel efficiency mark of 50 mpg by 2025.
Hyundai Motor America President John Krafcik has told Detroit Free Press that achieving 50 mpg is "do-able."
The projection follows an Obama administration proposal to lift the average mileage requirement to 62 mpg by 2025.
Hyundai has two 2011 models, the Sonata and Elantra, which are advertised as 40 mpg cars.
